Press Trust of India Kolkata
Border Security Force personnel have seized Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) of face value Rs 8 lakh in West Bengal's Malda district today.

Acting on a tip off, the BSF personnel seized the counterfeit currency during a special operation launched by them at Gopalnagar Border Outpost area under Kaliachak police station in Malda District, the BSF officials said.

When BSF troops challenged, the miscreants fled away from the spot by taking the advantage of darkness and inclement weather.

The BSF troops thoroughly searched the spot and recovered the FICN concealed in a plastic bag thrown by the Bangladeshi smugglers into the Indian side, the officials said.

The Indian border guards had already streamlined the vulnerable border with Bangladesh along Malda district to prevent smuggling and other border crimes, they said.
