Nashik police today claimed to have busted a fake currency racket with the arrest of five members of a gang.
Five persons were arrested yesterday by the Kalwan rural police for allegedly circulating fake currency notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 at the Saptashrungi temple at Nandui in the district, Kalwan police Sub-Divisional Officer Sachin Gunjan said today.
Fake notes amounting to Rs 2.75 lakh and two vehicles were also seized from their possession, he said.

Immediately, they caught the gang member and handed him over to the police. Police then chased other gang members and subsequently apprehended them, the officer said, adding they belonged to Kharda village in Ahmednagar district.
Police said a case under relevant sections of IPC has been registered in the regard and the accused will be later produced in a local court.
