The police here today seized fake currency notes with the face value of Rs 30,000 (in denomination of Rs 1,000) in Pandurangapuram area and arrested one person.

ACP (East) A N Murthy identified the arrested man as Senapathi Raju (37), an auto-driver by profession.

Acting on tip-off, sub-inspector G Dali Babu nabbed Raju when the latter was trying to exchange the fake currency for genuine notes.

During the questioning, Raju told police that he procured the fake currency by paying Rs 2,000 to some people around six months back. But he could not swap it for real currency notes as the fake notes could be identified easily.

Further probe is on.
