Fake currency with face value of Rs 6.90 lakh seized; 6 held

A fake currency racket has been busted and banned notes with the face value of Rs 6.90 lakh were seized from six persons in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara district, the police said Wednesday.

The fake notes with the face value of Rs three lakh in denomination of banned Rs 500 were seized from two persons riding a two-wheeler Tuesday night, a police official said.

Kotwali police station in-charge Samarjit Singh said the interrogation of Sitaram Chouhan (28) and Vinod Tumdam (18) led police to other members of the gang and additional fake notes with the face value of Rs 3.90 lakh were seized from them.

 

Other accused are identified as Santosh Chouhan (35), Rajendra Pawar (32), Sarvan Kushram (28) and Shyamlal Pawar (34), the official said.

Police have recovered a printer and other material from their possesion.

All of them have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and further investigation is underway.
