Fake job racket busted; five held

The Thane Police today arrested five persons for allegedly cheating a number of people to the tune of several lakhs under the pretext of providing them government jobs, the police said today.

According to police, the accused had promised jobs for positions like police constable, clerk, peon, driver in various departments of the state government and took money from them.

They are identified as Vinay Dalvi, Shankar Kolse-Patil, Ramesh Devre, and Pravin Gupta, Thane City Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Makarand Ranade told reporters.

ACP (Crime) Mukund Hatote said the preliminary investigation found that 31 persons have been cheated by the racketeers.
 

Police raided various places of the accused and have seized bio-datas, fake appointment letters, bogus office seals etc.

They have been booked under various sections of the IPC and further investigation is on.
