Fake notes of Rs 14 lakh value seized along Bangla border

A big cache of fake Indian currency notes with a face value of about Rs 14 lakh has been seized from along the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal.

The incident occurred early yesterday when a BSF patrol seized the notes under Daulatpur border post in Baishnabnagar police station area of the state. The notes were found neatly wrapped in polythene sheets and hidden under a culvert by suspected smugglers.

"A total of Rs 13,99,500 fake currency (denomination 1000 X 1100 and 500 X 599) was seized by the troops of the force," a senior official said.

The notes have been handed over to local police, the official said.
