Fake visa racket busted

With the arrest of

two fraudsters, police today claimed to have unearthed a fake visa racket that had its roots spread across Kendrapara district.

The duo had allegedly deceived nearly 70 local youths from Nikirai police station after the overseas job-seekers had been promised skilled jobs in Mauritius and Kuwait by a placement agency.

Police swung into action after a group of local youths lodged complain alleging that they have been taken for a ride by a fake visa racket.

Prasant Behera of Choti village and Baburam Sethy from Madanpur village confessed to the crime after being arrested yesterday.

Over a dozen of forged employment visas, several visa applications and other forged documents and application forms of placement agencies were recovered from them, a police official said.
 

Investigation found that the duo had spread their network across the district by providing the overseas job seekers with fake visas.

Besides it is also being believed that they were running a fake employment placement agency. It is being investigated whether they committed similar fruads in other areas.

"Those deceived by the duo mostly belonged to Choti and Mangalpur gram panchayat areas under Nikirai police station jurisdiction," said police officials.
