Alleging that "false" cases were lodged against Brahmins and upper caste people in previous BSP regime, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today assured the communities that all such cases would be withdrawn.
"In previous regime, fake cases were lodged against you people (Brahmin and upper caste). You were also sent to jails... I assure you that such cases will be withdrawn. Our government has already withdrawn some of the cases," Yadav said while addressing a 'Brahmin Sammelan' at the party headquarter here.
The chief minister said his government would ensure that the honour of the Brahmin community is maintained and would do anything for their progress.
Addressing the gathering, Yadav also assured Sanskrit teachers that their problems would be solved within a month, saying protecting and preserving Sanskrit meant saving Indian culture.
Attacking BSP, Yadav said that during 2012 Assembly polls, the party used to create confusion among the people but failed in its attempt and the Samajwadi Party got majority and called upon youths to repeat the performance in the next Lok Sabha polls due in 2014.
"We are making policy to ensure all out development of the state. Work in increasing power production, setting up new industries, constructing roads is on...We are soon filling vacant posts in government departments besides starting recruitment in police, education and other departments," he said.
Earlier, PWD minister Shivpal Yadav, Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey, besides various spiritual leaders from across the state also addressed the gathering.
