A traders' body here has pledged its support for the Shiv Sena-BJP led alliance during the Maharashtra Assembly elections next month.

Alleging that the state Congress-NCP government misled them on the issue of local body tax (LBT), Federation of Associations of Maharashtra (FAM) president Mohan Gurnani said yesterday that the BJP has assured them that, if it voted to power, it will abolish LBT.

"Our fight for abolishing LBT and octroi will continue," he said.

He urged the traders of the state to vote for the BJP-Sena alliance during the forthcoming polls.

Within two days, a seven-member state level core committee will be announced, which will co-ordinate with four regional organisations and meetings in every city will be called to prepare an action plan for this purpose, he said addressing a meeting of FAM's office-bearers here.
