Family members of a woman today staged protest outside the SSP office here alleging that she was killed by her in-laws for dowry.
Victim's brother Sunil alleged that the woman's husband, mother-in-law and other family members had been harassing her for dowry and on May 1, they poisoned her to death in Behta Hazipur village.
The family alleged connivance of some local policemen in the matter and blocked traffic outside the SSP office in protest.
They also alleged that the police did not take any action on their report.
SSP Nitin Tiwari later pacified the family by assuring them of adequate action in this regard.
