Family carrying body looted

A group of men today looted a family while it was carrying the body of one of its member in Palamau district, police said.

Six armed men stopped the vehicle carrying the body near Karimati on Paki-Balumath road under Panki Police Station and looted Rs 5000 in cash and two mobile phones from the family, they said.

The miscreants did not even spare the body of deceased Laldeo Vishwakarma and turned it over to loot assuming that the person was asleep, a family member said.

Laldeo (25), a small trader, was killed in a road accident in Ranchi yesterday. His family members were taking the body home after postmortem, police said, adding, that a complaint was lodged in this connection.
 

Meanwhile, in another incident, three miscreants looted Rs two lakh from a woman in Nayee Mohalla locality under Town Police Station today, police said.

The victim Archana Agarwal, wife of a grocery shop owner, was returning home in a motorcycle with her nephew after withdrawing the money from a bank.

The three came on a motorbike bearing registration number of Chhattisgarh and intercepted her two-wheeler before snatching away the bag containing the cash.
