Family files police complaint for facing social boycott

A family from Parda village in the district has filed a police complaint alleging that they are facing social boycott from a group of people for not voting for their panel during the recent gram panchayat polls, police said today.

A complaint in this regard has been filled by one Devidas Kisan Randive (65), an official at the Ambad police station said.

As per the complaint, candidates of Ekta Gram Vikas Panel and Parvaritan Panel were in fray for the polls, he said.

Ekta Panel got majority and their Sarpanch was elected. After this, members of Parivartan panel and others called meeting and decided to boycott Devidas and his family as they voted against their panel, the official added.
 

As per the complaint, the panel members allegedly threatened Devidas and his family and forced them to leave the village. They also allegedly prevented them to fetch water from the public-well and asked grocery shop owner not to sell grocery items to them.

They further asked flour mill owner not grind their grains, the complaint.

Police are yet to register a case in this regard.
