The revised income criterion has been implemented retrospectively from September 2014.

The new income ceiling criterion would benefit those seeking financial assistance under 'kulavilakku' and 'araivanappu' schemes among other programmes relating to women.

As many as nine welfare schemes operated by the department would adopt the new income ceiling of the household to provide financial assistance, the notification said.
