: Government today said family ration cards presently in use will be valid till December 2015.
An official press release said government had arranged to attach one additional sheet to the ration card as part of the renewal programme and cards would be made valid from January 1 2015 to Dec 31 2015, it said, quoting Food Minister Sellur K Raju.
The sheet would be attached by ration shop employees when people buy essential commodities for Dec 2014. Those who have No commodity family cards could renew them online, it said.
The release said adequate quanity of rice had been stored for the next three months and steps were being taken to ensure distribution of pulses, sugar, wheat, palmolein and other essential commodities.
Steps were also being to taken to monitor movement of the essential commodities to shops according to demand,issue new ration cards and cancel bogus ration cards, it said.
