Nag Nathaiya Leela festival started way back in the 16th century by Hindi poet Tulsi Das was celebrated at Tulsi Ghat here today.
Hundreds of followers of Lord Krishna, including foreign nationals, thronged the famous Ghat and its adjoining areas to witness the Krishna Leela performance, depicting a famous incident in the life of the deity.
A boy enacting the role of Lord Krishna jumps into the Ganga river and then resurfaces on the top of an artificial seven-hooded black serpent 'Kaliya' supported by some men in the river.
The tradition is being followed for the last 400 years in Varanasi.
