Famous temple in Puducherry goes digital

The more than 300-year old Manakula Vinayakar temple here today went digital with computerisation of its administration, including accounts and ticket sales to devotees.

Chief Minister V Narayanasamy inaugurated the counter to issue computerised tickets to devotees for various rituals, including pooja.

A spokesman of the Trustees Association of the temple said the management aimed at having an integrated computerised service dispensing with the hand written receipts adopted so far.

The National Informatics Centre (NIC) provided the necessary software for digital system of issuing tickets, computerisation of accounts and other routine administration of the temple.

The spokesman said the initiative taken keeping with the objectives of the Digital India programme.
 

Devotees can now book poojas and other rituals at the temple making use of the computerised system.
