Most people waited patiently in the compound of the court to see the actor, who turned 47 today.
Salman was asked to appear before a Metropolitan Magistrate on a complaint that he had allegedly delayed the trial in connivance with police.
A strong posse of policemen guarded the court and its precincts and did not allow Salman's fans to go upto court number 9, which is located on the first floor of the building in suburban Bandra.
Many fans of the actor stood on the bridge overlooking the court building while others waited at the two entrances apparently to say best of luck to the "Dabangg" hero.
The actor, however, did not come to the court although his two sisters Alvira and Arpita were spotted alongwith lawyer Dipesh Mehta.
Ahmed Patel, a diehard fan of Salman, told PTI that he was from Gujarat and had come here to meet his relatives. As he had read in newspapers that Salman was summoned today by the court he had come to meet the actor.
Raju Mehta, another fan of Salman, said he arrived at the court at 10 AM to get a vantage seat so that he could see the proceedings from a close distance. "I will come again on January 30 when the matter would be heard again," he said.
