To check movement of stolen autos and those running without proper documents, the Faridabad police has developed a software under which a unique identity number will be issued to all autos.

Every auto will be issued a sticker with the identity number and no auto will be allowed to ply without the sticker, said Inspector Jitendra Singh of the IT department of the Haryana Police which has developed the software.

Through the software, all information about the auto, its owner or driver will be registered along with their photographs, said Singh.

In case of any incident involving an auto, action will be taken on the basis of the identity number of the auto, he said.

The drive was launched today by Police Commissioner AS Chawla at a workshop held at the traffic police station here. Launching the drive, Chawla pasted the first sticker on an auto.
