Faridabad celebrates World Environment Day

A number of events and programmes were organised on the occasion of World Environment Day as people celebrated it with much fanfare in Faridabad.

A number of NGOs organised various programmes here, including street plays by students of National School of Drama.

To show their support to the cause, people hugged trees and formed human chains. Essay writing competitions were also organised in the city in various schools and colleges.

On the occasion, signatures were taken on a petition by a number of NGOs to save the Aravalli hill range, which will be handed over to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
 

The staff and management of NTPC gas station here also celebrated the day as the employees were administered the oath of keeping the environment clean and free from pollution.

General Manager Chandan Chakravarty said the power station is producing electricity using gas and the process is free of any emissions.
