Punjab Police Chief Sumedh Singh Saini told reporters here that the minor declined medical examination by claiming she was married to her alleged kidnapper.

"She did not agree for the medical examination at Goa saying that she is married to Nishan Singh (who allegedly abducted her on gunpoint on September 24 in Faridkot)," he said.

However, the accused and the girl, who were traced to the state yesterday, would be presented before a magistrate at Faridkot tomorrow morning.

"We will again seek permission for her medical examination tomorrow from the magistrate," he said.

"Strict action will be taken against the guilty as per law," he added.

He said the Bathinda range IG N S Dhillon had met the parents of the girl yesterday after she was found, but they allegedly expressed reluctance to accept their daughter.

"Whether the girl had gone voluntarily or forcibly an offence has taken place and action will be taken against all accused," he said.

15 out of the total 17 identified as accused in the case had been held so far. After the arrest of Nishan Singh, who is on transit remand till October 25, police had arrested one Toofan Singh from Jagroan last night, he added.

Police is yet to arrest the mother of Nishan Singh and one Dimpy Simmar.

On the award of Rs five lakh announced by the state government recently for information about the prime accused, Saini said it had become infructous as police arrested the accused along with the girl from Goa.

It took time to reach the main culprit as police had been conducting raids at several places in different parts of the country, he said.
