Both Akali Dal and Congress are facing an uphill task in Faridkot Lok Sabha constituency where rebels from the two outfits are in the fray as independents.

Sheetal Singh three times SAD MLA from Dharamkot and son-in-law of former Agriculture Minister Gurdev Singh Badal had jumped the electoral battle, while Sukhbiwnder Singh Danny, who unsuccessfully contested in 2009 on Congress ticket too is in the fray.

The last date for withdrawal of nominations in the state is tomorrow.

Danny said that he had made an appeal to Pradesh Congress Committee president Partap Singh Bajwa to reconsider the entire situation and withdraw candidature of Congress nominee Joginder Singh as he is facing charges of drug smuggling.

"Punjab Congress has already launched a drive against drug smuggling and if Joginder's candidature is withdrawn it will create good impression among the voters," he said.

Meanwhile, Sheetal also refused to withdraw his nomination papers as an independent posing trouble to sitting SAD candidate Paramjit Kaur Gulshan.

AAP's Sadhu Singh is also posing a challenge before the established parties.
