A farmer of a village near the forest area in this district was attacked by a bear and seriously injured, police said today.
Thangam (60) of Nakalpatti village was working in his field late last evening when the bear suddenly appeared in front of him and attacked him, they said.
He sustained serious injuries and fell unconsious after which the animal left the area, they said.
The farmer was rushed to the government Rajaji hospital here late last night.
The doctors at the hospital said he had suffered serious injuries in his head and had lost a lot of blood, but would recover.
