A farmer was beaten to death by robbers when he resisted their attempt to loot his house in Chitheda village, police said today.
Robbers had struck at Sant Ram's house last night while he was sleeping in veranda with his wife Suresh.
His two sons and daughter in law were sleeping inside.
On hearing noises, he wake up and confronted robbers, who beat him and his family members with sticks, police said.
They said Ram received grave injuries and died on the spot. The robbers later looted his house and decamped with cash, jewellery and other valuables.
Ram's neighbours today morning informed the police about the incident.
The four injured family members - Pappu, Neetu, Suresh and Manish - were admitted to a hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.
