Farmer commits suicide by hanging himself from a tree

A 65-year-old farmer committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree near his residence in Kakurlamudi village of Andhra Pradesh's Krishna district today, a police official said.

Pedana mandal police sub inspector A Ganeshkumar said that Lingam Venkateswara Rao (65) cultivated vegetables on ten cents of land.

Yesterday, he discussed the matter of arranging money required to observe his wife's first death anniversary with his sons, the police official said.

His family members reportedly stopped him from selling his land after which he took the extreme step, the police official said.

The Pedana police rushed to the spot, registered a case and shifted his body to the Machilipatnam Government Hospital for a postmortem, the police official said.
