Farmer ends life

A 50-year-old

farmer from Karimnagar district allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house here today due to indebtedness and crop failure, police said.

Pedda Lingaiah, a farmer of Veernapally village under Ellareddypet police limits, raised cotton and paddy crops in his agricultural fields, they said.

However, due to the drought situation and scarcity of water for irrigation, he did not get yields on his crops, they said, adding that Lingaiah spent huge amounts for raising crops.

Unable to cope with financial difficulties, he ended his life, they added.
