Farmer hacked to death in UP

An elderly farmer was hacked to death while his house was set ablaze by unidentified persons in Sahatwar area, police said here today.

Nand Kishore Yadav (65) was hacked to death by a sharp weapon while he was sleeping in a field in Rajauni village last night, they said, adding that his house was also set ablaze.

Superintendent of Police Aneer Ansari said the motive behind the murder was not clear but they are probing the matter.

He said that the farmer's body has been sent for post-mortem.
