A 35-year-old farmer was

allegedly mauled to death by a tigress near Dariyapur-Rafayatpur village here, Forest Department sources said today.

The incident happened yesterday when Dulari was working in the field. He was attacked and dragged by the tigress inside the forest and mauled to death, they said.

Dulari is the fourth-victim of the man-eater, who has been, since last December, preying on the villagers in the area.

In search of the big cat, the Forest Department has deployed their teams with tuskers but has so far remained unsuccessful.

The tigress is believed to have come from the Amangarh Tiger Reserve and then made its way into the human habitation creating terror among the villagers as they now fear to venture out in the fields.

According to the Thakurdwara Ranger Gangasahay, permission to kill tigress has been sought.
