The victim Kalyan was attacked last evening when he was on his way to the fields accompanied by two of his farmhands, Hindoli Station House Officer (SHO), Surendra Kumar Danodiya said.

Devraj Gurjar and Ramesh Baragi, the labourers accompanying Kalyan, managed to escape but the victim suffered serious injuries and succumbed during treatment at the district government hospital.

The cause behind the attack reportedly is some past rivalry.

The deceased's son Bhemraj Gurjar has lodged a case under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code against nine persons: Tejmal, Nolla, Juvana, Devlal, Devkaran, Nanda, Kajod, Radhayshyam and Jugdish, all of whom, however, are absconding.

Adding that police was conducting raids at certain locations to nab the accused, the SHO said that the post-mortem had already been completed and the body has been handed over to the kin of the deceased.
