Officials from the district administration said prima facie enquiry revealed that the farmer was suffering from some prolonged illness and was upset over it.
"Local officials spoke to his mother and daughters and according to them, he did not commit suicide because he had taken a loan. The farmer was suffering from some health-related problem from the past one year," Dhamtari Collector CR Prasanna told PTI.
Yesterday, Sahu had told his mother that he was having severe body pain but never mentioned about his loan to his family, he claimed.
"However, he had availed some loan from a nationalised bank," Prasanna said adding the amount of loan was not known.
On June 22, a tribal farmer, Manthir Singh Dhruv (55), allegedly committed suicide at Mokha village in Mahasamund district where another farmer, Hiradhar Nishad, ended his life on June 24 at Jamgaon village.
