Farmer kills self in Gujarat

A 50-year-old farmer facing financial crisis allegedly hanged himself from the ceiling of his house at Lushala village in Junagadh district of Gujarat, police said Saturday.

The deceased Dilip Tatamiya shared 0.4 hectares of land with his two brothers, a Vanthali police station official said.

He doubled up as an electrician to earn living, he said.

Tatamiya hanged himself at his residence in Lushala village, over 300 kms from here, Friday night.

The deceased is survived by a teenage son, the official added.

"Tatamiya was mentally disturbed for some time. His wife died some 15 years ago. His two younger brothers lived separately after getting married," the official said, adding that furtherinvestigation was on.
