Farmer leaders meet Sheila

Farmer leaders and heads of

various Delhi villages today met Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit and put forward their demands including a hike in compensation for farm land acquired by the government.

Dikshit assured the visiting delegation of Congress and farmer leaders that she would regularise the increased population near the villages as extended Laldora and also bring the resolution to abolish Sections 33, 81 and 86 (A) of Delhi Land Reforms Act 1954 in the coming cabinet meeting, said Naresh Kumar, General Secretary of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee.

He said the other demands of farmer leaders include increase in compensation to farmers whose land have been acquired by the government, implementation of OBC reservation rules in Delhi University, giving land rights to dairy owners, return of unused land acquired by the government.
 

They also asked the Delhi government to grant reservation to OBC candidates of Delhi on the lines of OBC status granted to Jats of Delhi.
