Farmer robbed off Rs 3.97 lakh in Mathura

A farmer was allegedly robbed off nearly four lakh rupees by two bike-borne youths in Collectorate area here this afternoon, police said.

Khadag Singh had withdrawn Rs 3.97 lakh from Allahabad Bank and was supposed to give it to Rakesh, resident of Nai Ki Sarai area in Agra, when two youths came on a motorcycle and fled with the money, Superintendent of Police (City) Chakrapani Tripathi said.

Singh was accompanied by his brother-in-law, the SP added.

According to police, Singh had sold a piece of land to Rakesh earlier but later decided against selling it and was supposed to return that money back today.
 

Further probe into the daring loot is being done, Tripathi said.
