Body of a 45-year-old tribal farmer was found hanging from a tree in Bashinda village here, with police suspecting suicide due to alleged failure of crops.

Murat Walke was today found hanging from a tree in the village, some 80 km from here, Inspector Shyamlal Sahu of Mohda police station said.

Walke's daughter said he was in stress because his soybean crops were damaged. He told her two days ago that as his crops have failed, he was going to Maharashtra to look for a job, he said.

She said his father left the house on October 7 on the pretext of going to Maharashtra, but was found dead this morning, he said.

Sahu also said that Walke was suffering from tuberculosis, which might have forced him to end his life.

He might have taken the step two days back, but his body was found this morning, he further said.

We have registered a case and further investigations are on, he said.
