Farmer sentenced to life for killing neighbour

A 45-year old farmer was sentenced to life imprisonment by a court here for murdering an elderly neighbour in the district owing to personal enmity in 2012.

Additional District judge, A Naseema Bhanu convicted Aandi alias Mottaiyandi of Kariyakoil village of murder and also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000.

However, the Judge acquitted Aandi's wife and son.

Prosecution case was that Aandi along with his wife and son used to frequently quarrel with their neighbour, Aandi (70). The accused had even been fined twice by the village panchayat for their conduct.

On June 8, 2012, the three allegedly attacked the old man with deadly weapons and he died on the spot.
