Farmer, truck cleaner electrocuted in Punjab

Two persons were electrocuted when a mini-truck came into contact with power cables on a road in Faridkot district, police said today.

The incident took place yesterday, police said.

The cleaner of the truck, identified as Anup Singh, was killed when the vehicle came in contact with the electricity cables hanging low over a link road near Paki Kalan village of Faridkot, they said, adding, driver Harjinder Singh was injured in the incident.

A farmer, identified as Bikar Singh, who was working in his fields nearby, rushed to help the duo when they shouted for help. However, he suffered electric shock and succumbed.
 

The truck was on its way towards Sarawali village, about 10 km from Faridkot, when the incident took place.

Harjinder Singh fell down from the truck and was injured. He was later taken to the Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, police said.
