"Kadam was admitted to hospital, where he died during treatment in the wee hours today. His body was sent to his relatives in Nanded," the official said.
Kadam, who was already under depression, took the extreme step as he was upset over getting lesser compensation for his crop damage, he said.
In the statement recorded before the police during his treatment, Kadam said the government had announced a compensation of Rs 6,800 per hectare for farmers, suffering crops loss, but he had received just Rs 4,400 and hence he took the extreme step, the police official said.
