The fifth edition of Agrovision-National Agriculture Expo, to be held here from December 26 to 29, will provide 'soil health cards' to about 1 lakh farmers from Vidarbha region.

Senior BJP leader Nitin Gadkari, who is the 'chief patron' of the expo, today said that farmers will be asked to bring soil samples from the field.

The sample will be tested by the laboratories at the expo and 'health card' will be issued, which will help find out which crop would give a better yield in the respective field, he said at a press conference here.

The sample should be taken from 9 cm to 18 cm below the surface, said agricultural scientist and Co-Chairman of the Advisory Council of Agrovision, Dr C D Mayee.

Gadkari said presently farmers have no way to get such a report easily.

The four-day expo will showcase latest products and technologies and services in farm sector and will provide information about various schemes of central and state government.
