The 12th National Convention of the Shetkari Sanghatana, attended by a large number of farmers and their representatives from across the country, concluded after 11 resolutions were passed in favour of a separate Vidarbha state.
The three-day convention was organised here from November 8 - 10.
An open discussion was organised on the concluding day, where dignitaries like Sharad Joshi, founder of Shetkari Sanghatana, Ved Prakash Vaidik, senior journalist and others expressed their views about various issues concerning farmers.

Vaidik claimed that none of the two Prime Ministerial candidates talked about issues pertaining to farmers during their public addresses, which he said, is a cause of concern.
Joshi declared advocate Wamanrao Chatap as the official party candidate for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections from the Chandrapur constituency and urged farmers to extend to him their wholehearted support.
Gunwant Hangarnekar from Nanded was named the new Maharashtra President of the Shetkari Sanghatana. He was also declared as the party candidate from the Nanded constituency for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Hangarnekar succeeds Ravi Dewang as the party's Maharashtra pradesh president.
