Encouraged with the return of land in Singur on the directive of Supreme Court, a group of land losers in New Town smart city today demonstrated before the HIDCO Bhavan demanding return of their plots which were acquired during the erstwhile Left Front regime.
"If the farmers of Singur can get back their land, the rule should be applicable for us and we also want the state government to return our land in Rajarhat New Town area," slogan shouting farmers with placards, said.
The demonstration was peaceful for a brief period, DC (Headquarters) of Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate, Nishant Parvez said, adding a representation of the farmers gave their deputation to the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) authority to place their demands.

When contacted, HIDCO CMD Debashis Sen refused to make any comment directing the media persons to contact the minister concerned.
Like in Singur, plots of agriculture land under the entire Rajarhat New Town area were acquired from farmers by the then Left Front government.
