Farmers from Thullur region today met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and presented around Rs 3.5 lakh for development of the new state capital Amaravathi.

They handed over a cheque of Rs 3,52,675 for Capital Development Committee. They have donated the annual rent they received from the government towards capital development, an official release said.

Appreciating their spirit, Chandrababu Naidu said that every person from every section of the society must come forward to partner in this capital building process.

"Creating a land bank of 33,000 acres through land pooling is a first time in the history, which could not have happened without the support of farmers and people," Naidu was quoted as saying.

"The Foundation stone ceremony on October 22 will mark a new start in the history," he said adding Prime Minister Narendra Modi is willing to support the state in all means for building a world-class capital.

Given that Singapore has prepared the capital city master plan free of cost, Naidu appealed to Telugu people across the globe to be partners in building the capital.

"Our capital city should show our unity and reflect our strength to the world," he said.
