Farmers led by Shetkari Sanghatana stop train at Lasalgaon

Hundreds of farmers led by Shetkari Sanghatana leader Sharad Joshi staged a rail blockade agitation today at Lasalgaon railway station in Maharashtra, the police said.

They demanded removal of onions from the list of essential commodities and lifting of a ban on onion export, by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre, the Lasalgaon police told PTI.

Shetkari Sanghatana leaders like Sharad Joshi and Ramchand Bapu Patil gathered at the station and stopped the Bhusawal-Igatpuri shuttle train at 3 pm, the Lasalgaon police said.

The police said that the agitation passed off peacefully.
