Farmers of two families clash, police resort to cane-charge

A clash took place between two groups of farmers in a village near here over discharge of water from agriculture fields, prompting policemen to resort to "mild cane-charge" to stop the violence.

A clash erupted between farmers of Gill Patti and Sandhu Patti families in Sadda Singh Wala village, some 25 km here, police said.

Policemen rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control.

However, some farmers allegedly pelted stones on them and cops had to resort to a mild cane-charge, said SP (Detective) H S Pannu.

No one received any major injury in the clash and the situation was brought under control, police said.
