Puducherry Farmers Union affiliated to all India Kisan Sabha today urged the management of the Puducherry Cooperative Sugar mill in neighbouring Lingareddypalayam to disburse the payment to the sugarcane farmers who had measured the cane during 2015-2016 crushing season to the mill.
General Secretary of the Union T Geethanathan said in a release here today that although the Chief Minister V Narayanasamy along with the team of his ministers had commenced crushing operations for the current season in the mill some days ago the payment due to the farmers for the previous season was yet to be cleared.
Hence steps should be taken to pay the amount.
