A farmers outfit today presented a draft of two legislations aimed at providing the community with better prices for their yield and also a complete loan waiver for the year 2017.
The draft was presented at a meeting organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Sangharsh Samanvay Samiti (ABKSS), Swabhiman Paksha leader Raju Shetti said, adding that it will be introduced as private member bill in parliament.
NCP president Sharad Pawar, former Rajya Sabha MP Sharad Yadav, TMC leader Dinesh Trivedi, CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury and representatives of different political parties attended the meeting and lent their support to the draft, he said.
The Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Sangharsh Samanvay Samiti is an umbrella outfit of 193 farmer organisations across the country.
"We presented the draft legislation to leaders of all political parties. The draft for the proposed legislation is aimed at ensuring that the farmers get one-and-a-half times more than the cost of their produce," Shetti said.
The second proposed legislation is for a complete loan waiver for the farmers, he said.
A joint committee comprising members from the AKSS and leaders from different political parties will suggest changes, if any, in the draft, the farmer leader from western Maharashtra added.
