Farmers seek crop loss assessment in Haryana

Farmers today sought revenue assessment of crops including wheat, mustard damaged due to untimely rains and hailstorm that lashed the northern region.

Growers said rains along with hailstorm caused extensive damage to crops in villages, including Murlipur, Gugodh, Nangal Pathani, Rattanthal, Guraora, Kosli, Bhakli of the Kosli sub division of the district yesterday.

Farmers under the banner of All India Bharatiya Kisan Sabha (AIBKS) today presented a memorandum to SDM, Nirmal Nagar, seeking a special girdawari (revenue assessment) of the destroyed crops.

They also demanded compensation of at least Rs 30,000 per acre for 100 per cent damaged crops.

District president of the AIBKS Surender Singh and district general secretary of the sabha Dalip Singh led the farmers' deputation.
 

The SDM assured the farmers that their demands would be forwarded to the higher authorities.
