Hundreds of farmers today staged dharna at Kauhar here in support of their demand to return their land allegedly grabbed by a now closed bicycle manufacturing company.
The protestors also held a meeting, led by AAP leader Shiv Prasad Kashyap and said they wanted their land back.
They claimed that that Samrat Bicycles Ltd run by Jain brothers allegedly grabbed a large acres of land from locals and promised to provide them jobs in the factory, which was registered to make bicycles to be exported to different countries including gulf countries.
But the factory became defaulter after sometime and was closed showing great loss and thus cheating the farmers of Amethi, they said, adding the land of the factory was recently auctioned was purchased by a trust.
