As many as 13 farmers' outfits and farm labour unions have decided to hold demonstrations in front of the residences of Punjab ministers on December 19 to protest against the non-acceptance of their demands which includes farm debt waiver.

Representatives of farmers' outfits and farm labour unions today held a meeting here and decided to hold the protest to press upon the government to accept their demands including waving of crop loans, said Sukhdev Singh Kokari General Secretary of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Ekta).

Kokari alleged the government has failed to provide grants to the families of those farmers who had committed suicides. All the farmers have not been given compensation for the damaged crop last year, he claimed.

He demanded that the government should give Rs five lakh each to the family of farmers who committed suicide.
