Farooq Abdullah asks J-K govt to use solar energy

Union minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah today asked Jammu and Kashmir government to take full advantage of solar energy.

"Solar energy is being utilised throughout the country for various purposes and government of Jammu and Kashmir should also come forward in a big way in this direction," Abdullah, who is president of the ruling National Conference said while addressing Srinagar District Development Board meeting here.

Abdullah underlined the need for utilising solar energy in government institutions like hospitals, schools and colleges and in the households for water heating purpose.

"The ministry will provide you all necessary support in this regard," the Union minister said.
 

Abdullah said a central team will visit the state after the holy month of Ramazan to discuss schemes related to utilisation of new and renewable energy resources.
