Farooq chairs meet on Srinagar airport

Srinagar Lok Sabha MP and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah today took stock of various issues related to Srinagar airport at a meeting held here, a party spokesperson said.

Abdullah, who is the chairman of the airport's advisory committee, discussed about late-night flight operations and operation of international flights from the airport.

He took note about passenger amenities, widening of the approach road to the airport and land acquisition for the same, the NC spokesperson said in a statement.

The meeting was attended by senior officers of the Airports Authority of India, the state administration, Indian Air Force, CRPF, J&K police, as well as the representatives of various travel bodies and officials of the airlines operating from the airport, the spokesperson said.
 

The former chief minister also took note of the formal naming of the airport as Sheikh-ul-Alam International Airport and the preponing of the Modernisation of Airfield Infrastructure (MAFI) project, he said.

Abdullah issued orders for the release of Rs 35 lakh from his MPLAD funds for the acquisition of a state-of-the art, fully-equipped ambulance for the airport, he added.
