Noted designer Anita Dongre feels fashion has become modern and the need of the hour is to have meaningful fashion which does good to the world.

Another popular designer Masaba is happy that fashion has become experimental in cinema world.

"Today, fashion has been redefined with a wave of positive change from the quintessential to more versatile and personality driven styles," Anita told PTI in an interview.

"While they embrace modernity, they also recognise the transformational value of technology, have the discernment to recognise the timeless value of tradition," she said.

"It is not just about great fashion but fashion that revives, empowers and creates better livelihoods," she said.

Anita provides a design platform for artisans to showcase their work, thereby ensuring it is a win-win partnership for both.

"Levering this insight, of sustainable fashion being here to stay, we have introduced Anita Dongre Grassroot, catering to the evolved and progressive personalities," she said.

Designer Masaba thinks fashion has become experimental in Hindi films which is a great thing.

"Notwithstanding the drama and talent, fashion has become the very essence of Bollywood. Right from contemporary to eclectic modern fashion and styling, the industry is on an experimental mode," she said.

"New, edgy designs and patterns have already swayed the industry," she said.

Another designer Nachiket Barve too thinks fashion has evolved tremendously in Hindi films today.

"Hindi films remain the runway for the masses. It is one point where people across the board derive fashion inspiration from and the medium has evolved hugely. Today's stars wear fashion in an international format," Nachiket said.

"Today it is way more systematic with brand tie-ups and whole looks conceived beforehand," he said.

According to Nachiket, the love affair between fashion and films is not new.

"This love affair with celluloid is very long. Who hasn't swooned over Madhubala's costumes in 'Mughal-e-Azam' or Audrey Hepburn's in 'Roman Holiday' or 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'," he added.
